Getting started

Menu bar panel — click the HoverClip icon in your menu bar to browse clipboard history.
Hover sidebar — move your cursor to the right edge of the screen for about half a second, or press ⌃⌥V.
Copy an item back — click any history item. It's placed on your clipboard; paste with ⌘V.
Settings — the gear icon in the menu bar dropdown (shortcuts, storage, OCR).

Frequently asked questions

Why do I have to press ⌘V myself?

HoverClip is sold on the Mac App Store, which requires app sandboxing. A sandboxed app cannot inject keystrokes into other apps, so HoverClip puts the item on your clipboard and you paste it — the same model used by other App Store clipboard managers.

Where is my data stored?

Entirely on your Mac, inside the app's sandbox container. There is no cloud sync, no account, and no network access of any kind.

Does HoverClip see my passwords?

No. Items marked as concealed or transient by password managers (1Password, Bitwarden, etc.) are recognized and never stored.

How do I delete my history?

Settings → Storage → delete all items. History is also pruned automatically based on your retention and item-limit settings.

What does the OCR feature do with my screen?

The paid OCR capture processes the selected screen region entirely on-device with Apple's Vision framework. Frames are never saved or transmitted. Screen Recording permission is requested only the first time you use OCR.

I reinstalled / switched Macs — how do I restore my OCR purchase?

Settings → Purchases → Restore. Your lifetime unlock is tied to your Apple ID.
