Privacy Policy

Summary

HoverClip collects no data. There are no analytics, no ads, no trackers, and no network requests. Everything the app stores stays locally on your Mac.

What HoverClip stores, and where

Clipboard content you copy (text, images) is stored in a local database on your Mac, inside the app's sandbox container.
Your settings (preferences, shortcuts) are stored locally using macOS user defaults.
Content marked as concealed or transient by password managers is intentionally ignored and never stored.
You control retention: items are deleted automatically based on your configured storage duration and item limit, and you can delete all history at any time from Settings → Storage.

Permissions HoverClip may request

Clipboard access — the core function of the app (reading what you copy).
Screen Recording (optional, only for the paid OCR feature) — used solely to capture a screen region you select for on-device text recognition. Captured frames are processed locally by Apple's Vision framework and are never saved or transmitted.

Third parties

None. HoverClip makes no network connections and shares nothing with anyone.
The optional in-app purchase (OCR unlock) is processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details; Apple only informs the app whether the purchase is valid.

Data collection

We do not collect, transmit, or process any personal data. There is no server, no account, and no telemetry.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new effective date.
